The secret is out: it appears that the custom of erecting a Christmas tree has its root in Paganism. The fierce Vikings – who viewed evergreens as the special plant of sun god Balder – may have inspired devout Christians to bring trees into their homes, and decorating them. The custom clearly also existed in the middle east, as Jeremiah 10:2-4 condemns as pagan the practice of cutting down trees, bringing them into the home and decorating them with gold and silver. Pagans however only used branches of evergreen trees to decorate their homes during the winter solstice, not the whole tree. Such a respect of nature aligns with Deuteronomy 20:19-20 that forbids the unnecessary destruction of trees.
Indeed, Mother Nature is sacred, as are her trees, whose preservation is an urgent environmental concern. Yet trees are so much more: world tree Yggdrasill is an immense mythical tree that connects the nine worlds of Norse cosmology. So are the Tree of Life and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil: they connect different realms of awareness, thereby allowing those who are sincere at heart to “grow” an evergreen and messianic consciousness.
Precise mathematical codes are behind the Nature’s design: the Fibonacci sequence happens to organize the whirls on a pinecones of evergreens. Everything in the Universe is geometric, whether it is people, animals, planets, solar systems, stars, etc. Since everything that is created can be measured on a geometric scale, there has to be a single pattern of creation that sources it all. That symbol is the “Seed Of Life.” It passes the test of time and space, as it is one of the oldest known symbols across space and time. This pattern is at the root of all creation, and thus, at the root of mind.
The seed also undergirds the writing of the first chapter of Genesis, where the world is said to have been created in six days. These six “days” are in fact the six spheres of the Seed Of Life: once the sixth sphere is drawn, a seventh naturally appears at the center. This seventh sphere is known in Hebrew as the Shabbat, a wonder-space of “rest” in which creation happens through me and not by me.
Imagine… Making rest and relaxation our home sweet home! That attainment may not be that farfetched: the contemplation of geometry has been known cross-culturally to open to transcendence. Geometry has an educational and evolutionary purpose: just so that we wouldn’t stop ignoring it, crop circles advertise it on a very big scale! Here is an uncanny way for “little me” to surrender to seeing the miracle of One only thing, and thus be able to join above and below, as I hold the tension between opposites.
The radical way of geometry paves the design of the Path of XPR. Join us as we celebrate Nature, and learn from her patterns. This show will be a solstice celebration, as it will complete our first year going through the book of the New Essenes, a book inscribed a timeless wave, torqueing and twirling, whose heartfelt scroll and study unfolds again more alive with each passing year… We will start at noon EST / 11 AM CST / 9 AM PST this Sunday, and inquire on P68 of the New Essenes eBook (please make sure you have downloaded the latest version). If you can join us live this time, great! If not, you may always listen to the archive or join us for our other New Essene shows via Elevate the Soul radio. Logistics follow.
Until then and beyond, peace be with you,
