Are you an open minded leader?

Imagine that you decide to explore the world… You go to a travel agency to purchase your ticket. The travel agent asks you: “Where would you like to go?” You say: “I don’t know!” Well, if that is the case, there is little chance that you would get there, isn’t it? If on the other hand, you are clear and say: “I want a ticket departing from NYC in direction of Machu Picchu, on the next flight available,” your clarity will get you there in no time!

Whether it is a physical destination (Machu Picchu) or a spiritual destination (full awakening), the process is the same: you just have to be clear on where you’re going,  unafraid to ask for a question or two on the way and watching out for a few danger zones…

See if you have a point of reference with wanting to find a way out of the following four danger zones.

  • Out of overwhelm: truth be told, I am reluctant to wake up in the morning because of the thoughts of all the responsibilities and unmet deadlines that I will have to face…
  • Out of despair:  I dread the end of the day, when I am crumbling under the weight of my own leadership, feeling powerless to have my team engage

  • Out of stress: quite frankly, my dear, I am tired of being the only one trying to make a difference!
  • Out of denial: to be honest, there are places in my life that I chose ignore, such as the longing for emotional intimacy or the basic needs of my abused body. I cannot take this anymore. I am ready for some guidance out of this.
