When we perceive that XPR (for “light, letter, number, sound”) is that which consciousness manipulates, then it appears that XPR must have preceded consciousness itself. That idea spoken about by Bill Tiller (one of the scientists in the movie What the Bleep do we know?!) is confirmed by the Talmud—a record of rabbinic discussions pertaining to Jewish law, ethics, philosophy, customs and history. XPR Torah—the book of the Hebrew Bible—is one of the seven things that preceded the creation of the world.
So OK, the Word is before the World. So now, to the question, how did XPR make itself known to emPOwering NOW, we will answer with a story…
Once upon a time (and that would be around 2005—some 20 years after this work began being unveiled), I was in my studio contemplating and praying for an answer to the following meditation: if I were a set of four archetypes whose synergy would express the highest level of functioning, a.k.a. as the behavior of love, what would these archetypes be named? What would they address?
Now you have to understand that I didn’t just wake up on that day with this question… That meditation had begun quite a few years before; and actually I could even say in truth that that meditation had nothing to do with me… The earliest attempt to organize consciousness in a quadrant was through Greek physician Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, who came up with the 4 humors. Yes, you could say he had a good sense of humor… He believed that certain human moods, emotions and behaviors were caused by body fluids, which he called “humors:” blood, yellow bile, black bile, and phlegm. That idea has been traced to originate from Egypt or Mesopotamia. Nobody knows for sure!
From 400 BCE on, that 4-based matrix was developed by many, among which Immanuel Kant (1724–1804), Rudolf Steiner (1861–1925), Alfred Adler (1879–1937), Eduard Spränger (1914), Erich Fromm (1947), all creating a theory around the four with different names, and coming up with teachings that are at the foundation of modern theories of temperament. Among the matrices which made their mark on human thought, we want to cite the DiSC assessment, the Keirsey Temperament Sorter (whose four temperaments are based on the Greek gods Apollo, Dionysus, Epimetheus and Prometheus), the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). And of course, in speaking of quadrant theories, we cannot but honor Ken Wilber—our youngest pundit.
And yet… There is a little fact here that can easily get lost: no one really knows where Hippocrates’ ideas came from… We know however that Greek came from Hebrew and that Greek philosophers are really who alerted the rabbis on the wealth of the Hebrew language and on the depth of the QKabbalah in assisting people to reach their potential… So what if Hippocrates had been attempting to translate the Tetragrammaton, Greek for “the 4-letter word” and referring to Hebrew YEWE, a word which is translated in most Bibles as “the LORD God?” Not to worry, people: Egyptian, Hebrew, Greek… We are family!
Sooo… Back to the top of my story, here I was in my studio, meditating on what in the world is the YEWE and how can it be of help to the angels who have agreed to coach with me? Heck, how can this 4-letter word help me become a better person? Here is what I knew:
- The first letter Yod (Y) invokes the fiery realm of the heart.
- The second letter Heh (E) invokes the watery realm of the soul.
- The third letter Vav (W) invokes the airy realm of the mind.
- The fourth letter Heh (E) invokes the earthly realm of the body.
Well, just to get those four things straightened out in my mind took quite a few years! So now the question became: “If I were an archetype that functioned splendidly in my heart—someone who was not afraid to stand in the fire when the going gets tough, who would I be?” Leader kept on coming up for me. So OK… Yod will be a Leader…
Next question: “If I were an archetype that functioned splendidly in my soul—someone who was not afraid to enter the deep waters, who would I be?” Being that I made my living as a visual artist, that one was easy: “Visionary!” intuition shouted. So OK… Heh will be a Visionary…
Third question: “If I were an archetype that functioned splendidly in my mind—someone who could think and design systems and bridges, who would I be?” And the muse answered: “I would be an Engineer…” I liked that it was a masculine role… Plus, at the time, I was dating an Engineer; so, it made me rather partial to this kind… So Vav would be an Engineer!
By now, you see me going… So, yes, here was the fourth question: “If I were an archetype that functioned splendidly in my body—someone who really could pay attention to details and watch over and nurture life, who would I be?” That was the hardest for me, potentially because I had no clue then how to do that… So it had to be an archetype that was challenging to me, and potentially challenging to most: “Officer” sort of fitted the bill.
So let’s try it all together for size; Leader, Visionary, Engineer, Officer… Officer, Leader, Engineer, Visionary… Leader, Officer, Visionary, Engineer: a scream of pure JOY made itself be heard (and yes, it had come from my throat)! “Leader, Officer, Visionary, Engineer!” That had to be IT—that had to be what humanity had been awaiting to ease consciousness into adopting the behavior of love… Leader, Officer, Visionary, Engineer was an acronym spelling LOVE into being!
From screaming my JOY, an improvised shamanic dance began… The joy was palpable… The spirit uplifted… The truth known! I had just stumbled on a quadrant theory that was at once SO poetic and SO pure that it addressed truth in a way that would communicate directly—heart to heart, mind to mind: indeed, LOVE was about to light the planet!
In JoyLOVE,
